Wow, that’s a mouthful, isn’t it? Hah!!! I just made a funny 😉 Okay, this can be joking type of thing, but it is a very serious thing also. I’ll be completely honest with you – I am into health (duh), I am into practical health, and I am into raw foods also. Now I am not a hardcore raw foodie – that won;t happen until my boys are grown and I have the time to do things right. I am an all or nothing type of person when it comes to a commitment. Eating is a very personal thing, I say that about everyone including myself. I am Sicilian, 100% purebred. Grew up gnawing on salami when I was teething, stealing olive from my dad’s martini’s, having hot fudge brownie sundaes for lunch in high school. And then a funny thing happened in chorus one day. I passed out in a middle of a song. Of course my mom scheduled a dr’s appointment immediately and low and behold, we come to find out I was hypoglycemic. Who’da thunk that living on cereal for breakfast, hot fudge brownies and french fries for lunch, slurpee in the afternoon and then a regular dinner at night would screw up my glucose and insulin levels? Now, our family doctor had it right when we received this diagnosis. He told me I need to eat rich in complex carbohydrates, proteins, 5 -6 times a day, consider sugar poison and exercise or become an insulin dependent diabetic because I would burn out my pancreas. Although I did not know exactly where my pancreas was, I knew I didn’t want to become insulin dependent, so I followed his advice and I felt great! No more sugar drops, no more agitation from not eating, no more fatigue. Fast forward to 28, and I have a gall bladder attack. Great! How did this happen? I thought I was eating pretty good. Maybe from eating too many chicken wings, martini’s and foie gras while working in the restaurant. Of course the solution for this is to take the gall bladder out. Another organ to be put on the out of order list? Well fortunately for me I didn’t have insurance yet, and I had just begun my journey in the health food sector. My assistant, Judy Veal I love you Judy, told me about this great supplement from Planetary Formulas called Stone Free. Helps your body break down the stones (kidney and gall) and pass them. After 2 bottles, they were gone. They came back 3 times over the next 5 years and so I had to do more research as to why? Basically – after you omit the fatty foods, the alcoholic beverages, the chocolate, and the hormones, gall stones come down to a potassium imbalance and you are not breaking down your fats properly. Ionic trace minerals and digestive enzymes.
My point is food has EVERYTHING to do with our health. The types of food we eat have EVERYTHING to do with our health. Even the supplements we use can help or harm us. Point in fact are the age old reports of an excess of undigested vitamins found in people’s bodies upon doing autopsies. Why? Because they are chemically derived vs whole food which the body knows how to break things down. There is more and more research coming out about chemicals in our environment that act as endocrine disruptor’s and heavy metals causing major health issues. What can we do about that? A simple cleanse can clear those receptors and have our bodies functioning naturally again (well, it may take multiple after having years of build up, but still). Enzymes, what’s that all about? Bananas get bruised when they get bumped right? It’s their food enzymes breaking them down. So that’s where the whole ‘raw food” thing comes into play. Eating raw foods gives your body a break from having to produce digestive enzymes therefore letting it work on metabolic functions. Less stress on the body = less aging taking place.
We just had our 4 year picture summary of the ‘toll being the president takes’. Hey, I am not saying running a country is easy – the pictures don’t lie. However, you can reduce/reverse the effects of stress and toxins on and in the body through what you put into it. I am living proof of this. I haven’t always been Miss Health Food. I have learned the benefits of eating better and want to share tasty, practical ways to improve health.
Those 3 pieces of raw fruits, staying away from refined ANYTHING, taking a raw whole food multi, hey, there is even a daily detox drop that you can take that rids your body of heavy metals and chemicals. Here’s the site, you do the research and let me know what you think. I’m grooving on it. Read the blogs, the research and the testimonials. Life really does get this good.
